A thanksgiving service will be held on Saturday, August 8, at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi to honour the life and legacy of Apostle Kwadwo Safo, the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group.
The service, scheduled to commence at 9 am, is being organised by the Kristo Asafo Mission in collaboration with the Kantanka family to express gratitude to God for the life of the late Apostle, who passed away at the age of 113.
According to a statement issued by the organisers, the service is intended to celebrate the life of the late Apostle and to thank God for blessing the nation with a visionary whose legacy continues to shape Ghana's spiritual, technological, industrial and socio-economic development.
Throughout his lifetime, Apostle Kwadwo Safo championed the philosophy that the African is the architect of his own destiny. He founded the Kantanka Group, established Ghana's indigenous automobile manufacturing industry, developed hundreds of engineering innovations, established large-scale manufacturing plants, promoted mechanised agriculture, created thousands of jobs, invested in education and vocational skills training, expanded the Kristo Asafo Mission into a global Christian movement, and supported countless vulnerable individuals through his philanthropic works.
The thanksgiving service follows a series of funeral activities that attracted massive participation from across Ghana and beyond. The late Apostle was laid to rest at Gomoa Mpota, the home of his technology institution and innovation hub, following a burial ceremony attended by thousands of mourners, traditional rulers and clergy. After his burial, tens of thousands of mourners converged on Black Star Square in Accra to pay their final respects.
Saturday's service is expected to draw a distinguished gathering of traditional authorities, industrialists, academics and clergy from across the country.
Confirmed participants include Rev. Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, Founder and General Overseer of the Believers Worship Centre; Rev. Eastwood Anaba, Founder and President of Eastwood Anaba Ministries; and Apostle Francis Amoako Atta, Founder and General Overseer of Parliament Chapel International.
The service will feature worship, thanksgiving, scriptural exhortation, special musical ministrations, tributes and prayers of gratitude to God for the life of Apostle Emeritus Professor Engineer Kwadwo Safo.
