Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been re-elected as the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He secured a decisive victory at the party’s regional elections held at Baakuniaba, near Sunyani, in the Bono Region.
Mr Baffoe obtained 201 votes to retain the chairmanship, beating his closest contender, Joseph Mensah, who obtained 31 votes.
The former Jaman South Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Yaw Afful, polled 44 votes, while Afari Gyan and Kwabena Oppong failed to secure a vote.
Other contests
In the other contests, Kate Amponsah Agyare was elected First Vice-Chairperson after polling 252 votes against Peter Boampong Asomah, who obtained 29 votes.
Kwaku Antwi Agyei won the Second Vice-Chairperson position with 123 votes, defeating Issa Issaka, who polled 89 votes, and Kwadwo Agyekum, who obtained 68 votes.
For the Secretary position, Kofi Ofosu Boateng retained the position with 187 votes, while Asare Baffour Ebenezer polled 93 votes.
Randy Ashraf Issahaku narrowly won the Deputy Secretary position with 145 votes against Stephen Opuni, who secured 135 votes.
The Women’s Organiser position was keenly contested, with Samira Sulley emerging victorious with 142 votes, beating the incumbent, Doris Asomah, who polled 139 votes.
In the Youth Organiser contest, Dauda Ibrahim Bamba emerged winner with 102 votes, followed by Shadrach Abrefah Mensah with 92 votes. Joeffrey Kwarteng Brobbey and Alhaji Baba Suwari polled 58 and 29 votes respectively.
Faisal Osman Mohammed was elected Nasara Organiser after polling 177 votes against Wahab Bashiru, who secured 101 votes.
The Treasurer position went to Veronica Tuffour, who polled 131 votes, narrowly beating Henry Osei, who obtained 124 votes, while Kassim Siaka secured 25 votes.
Abdul Razak Oppong won the Organiser position with 229 votes against Darlington Bill Boampong, who obtained 52 votes.
For Communications, Fahd Osman emerged victorious with 170 votes, defeating Abubakari Yakubu, who secured 111 votes.
Delegates
A total of 281 delegates from 12 constituencies were expected to vote in the regional elections, which were supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
The election was conducted smoothly, with police officers deployed at the voting centre to maintain law and order.
Despite the competitive nature of some of the contests, the exercise proceeded without disruptions, with the presence of EC officials and security personnel helping to ensure an orderly process.
