While praising the managers, Roy Hodgson, his assistant, Ray Lewington, chairman Steven Parish and sporting director, Dougie Freedman for the confidence reposed in him, he said the only thing he could do to pay them back was his performance on the pitch.

"I wanted to show the club that they didn't make the wrong decision to sign me," he said in an interview with Skysports.

The 28-year-old Ghanaian has accounted for nine of the club’s total goals this season which took his English Premier League tally to 25 and to make him the highest scoring Ghanaian player in the league after breaking the record previously held by Tony Yeboah.

"They are the ones who trusted me and had the belief in me to sign me permanently, since I came to this football club, they have been so supportive and so good to me.

“The only thing I could do was just try to go on the pitch, perform and do my best for the team. Thank God, things have changed a bit for me this season," he noted

The ex-Aston Villa star said as much as he knew he was a good finisher, luck sometimes helped in football but said hard work together with luck was what has propelled him to have a fine run in the season.

"I've always thought that I was a good finisher, but sometimes you just need a bit of luck." This year, I've had quite a bit of luck, but luck doesn't just come like that, you need to provoke it. I've been working really, really hard on that but there's still room for improvement."
