President Mahama endorses made in Ghana luxury brand Caveman Watches
President John Dramani Mahama has publicly endorsed Ghanaian luxury brand Caveman Watches, saying he personally wears the locally manufactured timepieces.
The President made the remarks during a working visit to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in Accra, where management of the state broadcaster presented him with a Caveman Watch as a token of appreciation for his visit.
According to officials of the GBC, the presentation was intended as a symbolic Christmas and New Year gift to express gratitude to the President, despite the visit taking place several days into the new year.
“As far as we are concerned, we are still in the Christmas and New Year mood,” a representative of GBC said. “We would therefore like to make a small Christmas presentation to symbolise how grateful we are for your presence.”
Receiving the watch, President Mahama drew attention to its local origin and disclosed that the brand already forms part of his personal accessories.
“This is a Caveman Watch. It’s made in Ghana. And it’s the same thing I’m wearing. I wear Caveman Watches. So now I have another one,” he said.
He added, “You couldn't have chosen a better gift.”
The watch presented to the President was customised with the GBC logo, a gesture management said was meant to highlight collaboration between public institutions and Ghanaian-owned brands while promoting local craftsmanship.
Caveman Watches is a premium African luxury watch brand that blends African heritage, storytelling and modern design, and has positioned itself strongly within the Made in Ghana agenda.
President Mahama’s remarks drew applause from staff and officials present, reinforcing his longstanding call for the patronage of locally manufactured products as a means of supporting domestic industry and driving economic growth.
The President’s visit to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation formed part of a series of engagements with key public institutions, with a focus on the role of state media in national development, accountability and public information dissemination.
