Lekzy wins Stand-Up Comedian of the Year award for the fourth time

Ghanaian comedian Lekzy Decomic has made history after winning the Stand-Up Comedian of the Year award at the 2026 Ghana Comedy Awards for the fourth consecutive year.

The feat further cements his position as one of the leading figures in Ghana’s comedy industry, reflecting more than a decade of consistency, creativity and growth in a competitive entertainment landscape.

With 13 years in the industry, Lekzy has built a reputation for his relatable storytelling, sharp observations and energetic stagecraft, steadily establishing himself as one of the country’s most recognisable stand-up comedians.

His latest achievement also adds to a career that has increasingly extended beyond Ghana. In recent times, Lekzy has taken his comedy to international audiences, including through a tour of the United States where he performed at multiple venues and platforms.

The tour provided an opportunity for him to connect with diverse audiences while showcasing Ghanaian humour and storytelling to communities outside the country. It also contributed to his growing profile on the international comedy circuit.

Beyond his performances, Lekzy has become an influential figure among a new generation of Ghanaian comedians. His sustained presence in the industry and commitment to his craft have positioned him as one of the performers helping to push Ghanaian stand-up comedy forward.

His fourth consecutive Stand-Up Comedian of the Year award comes as he prepares for another major milestone in his career — an upcoming comedy show scheduled for October.

The show is expected to attract comedy enthusiasts from across the country, with fans looking forward to seeing Lekzy bring his signature humour and storytelling to the stage once again.

For Lekzy, the latest award represents more than another addition to his collection. Winning the category four years in succession is a significant feat in an industry where maintaining relevance and audience appeal over time can be challenging.

After 13 years of performing, an international tour and now a historic fourth consecutive award, Lekzy Decomic continues to strengthen his standing in Ghana’s comedy scene.

With his October show on the horizon, the comedian appears set to begin another chapter of a career that continues to expand both at home and on the international stage.

The sixth edition of the awards was held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ridge, Accra. The ceremony brought together some of the biggest names in Ghanaian comedy and recognised performers, actors, content creators, writers and other personalities contributing to the growth of the industry.

Lekzy emerged winner of the Stand-Up Comedian of the Year category ahead of fellow nominees including OB Amponsah, DKB, Okokobioko, Parrot Mouth, Foster Romanus, Jacinta Ocansey and Oh Joo.

The award comes at a time when Lekzy’s career is increasingly taking him beyond Ghana. In June, he joined fellow Ghanaian comedians OB Amponsah and Clemento Suarez for the Black Star Comedy Tour across the United States, taking Ghanaian humour, satire and cultural storytelling to audiences in the diaspora.

One of the tour’s notable moments came in Columbus, Ohio, where Lekzy and OB Amponsah performed to a sold-out audience on June 20. The response from audiences across the United States further demonstrated the growing appetite for Ghanaian comedy beyond the country’s borders.
