Attacks on officers in uniform a grave threat

The mobilisation or incitement of attacks against officers in uniform is not only wrong it is a profound threat to the very foundation of law, order, and national stability.

Uniformed officers represent the authority of the state, the protection of citizens, and the enforcement of laws designed to preserve peace and security.

Any deliberate attempt to organise violence against them must be unequivocally condemned.

Officers in uniform do not operate as private individuals; they function as agents of public safety entrusted with maintaining order, protecting lives, and safeguarding property.

An attack on them is therefore an attack on the rule of law itself.

When such actions are encouraged or mobilised, they undermine public confidence in state institutions and embolden lawlessness, creating a dangerous environment where chaos can thrive.

History and experience have shown that violence against security personnel often leads to wider instability.

Communities suffer when officers are targeted—emergency response times are affected, crime rates rise, and the sense of safety that citizens rely on is eroded.

Innocent civilians ultimately bear the cost of such recklessness, as insecurity disrupts social, economic, and civic life.

While grievances against authority may exist in any society, they must be addressed through lawful and peaceful channels.

Democratic systems provide mechanisms for dialogue, accountability, and reform.

Resorting to violence or mobilising others to attack officers is not an expression of justice or protest; it is criminality that weakens the very systems meant to protect rights and freedoms.

Furthermore, incitement against officers places young people and vulnerable individuals at risk, often manipulating emotions and frustrations for destructive ends.

Those who mobilise such attacks frequently evade responsibility, while the consequences—loss of life, imprisonment, and long-term trauma—fall on those misled into violence.

Respect for officers in uniform does not mean blind acceptance of misconduct.

Accountability and professionalism within the security services are essential and must be pursued firmly.

However, accountability must be achieved through legal processes, institutional oversight, and civic engagement—not through violence or incitement.

As citizens, leaders, and stakeholders, we must collectively reject violence, uphold lawful means of redress, and promote respect for the institutions that preserve our common security.

Only through restraint, dialogue, and adherence to the law can a society remain stable, just, and secure.
