Ensuring transition achieves set objectives
Last Monday’s acceptance speech from President-elect John Dramani Mahama and transition arrangements for Wednesday, December 11, 2024, is welcome news of the fulfilment of constitutional provisions.
This is a clear indication that time is of the essence and the President-elect, as well as the sitting President, wants to ensure that come January 7, 2025, the necessary transitional arrangements would have been completed for the incoming government to assume office and commence work.

In doing so, there should be an inclusion of professionals and experts with knowledge and experience in specialised areas to assist in interrogating issues thoroughly, so that at the end of the transitional period, both parties forming the transition teams would be satisfied with work done and information obtained.
I would like to plead with the transition teams from the incoming and outgoing governments to consider including professionals and experts in procurement, contract, works, and logistics, to assist in getting information about the status quo.
These technical areas need skilled people with experience and skill and are better placed to contribute meaningfully to the deliberations during the transition meetings and discussions.
With the new dawn, let's help change the status quo by bringing best practices to bear.
