MahamaCares made my day

I watch television a lot and my favourite programme is the news.

One upsetting thing for me is when I see people begging for financial support to treat various degrees of ailment that they do not have the financial muscle to treat.

Why do the poor often suffer from serious ailments, driving them to beg for financial help? Or it happens to the rich, but because they can foot the bill, it doesn’t come out publicly?

Those in my immediate circle can confirm my concern about this, as I often say that if I become president one day or if I am blessed and financially sound, I will establish a fund to support any such pleas on the media for assistance to treat a medical condition.

That is why I was extremely delighted when, on March 12, 2025, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, dubbed MahamaCares, was launched by our president.

Thank God that also on February 6, 2026, on page 11 of the Daily Graphic, there was a publication of a beneficiary, Ms Rebeca Odarquaye, benefiting from assistance for a brain tumour she suffered.

From the report, she has successfully undergone surgery, is doing well and will soon return to work.

I urge all to contribute to the MahamaCare for funds for the less privileged when they fall ill.

Mr President, thank you for caring for your people and God bless you for that.
