Accra Diocese Women's Fellowship officers inducted
The Bishop of the Accra Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana, Rt Rev. Dr Samuel Nii Nmai Ollennu, has inducted into office new officers for the Accra Diocese Women's Fellowship.
The new officers, who will serve a three-year non-renewable term, had Jemima Opoku Boadu as the Chairman, Mercy Aba Dankyi as the Secretary and Justicia Apenkeah as the treasurer.
The rest are Vice Chairman, Ruby Lamptey Okwabi; Assistant Secretary, Judith Offeibea Donkor; Organiser, Delphina Dede Djamgbah; co-opted member, Evangelist Irene Nartey; Executive member, Maame Ekua Benya and Mavis Amui, immediate past Chairman.
The officers were elected last year and their induction at the Rev. J. E. Allotey Pappoe Methodist Church, Accra New Town, last Sunday, was in fulfilment of the church's practice that officers who are appointed should be inducted into office as a matter of recognition.
Induction ceremony
Inducting them into office, Rt Rev. Dr Ollennu prayed they may be endowed with the Holy Spirit and made worthy of their calling in the sacred office they had been elected to.
"Sisters, God knows you better than any person, who will associate with you in the discharge of your duties.
Will you give yourselves totally to the service of God and as a faithful servant of God, eschew any form of dishonesty in your administration to the end?
I wish to make you aware that the Lord whom we serve will in the last days bring everything to judgment, including those things you respond to concerning the office which is being entrusted to you today’’, he further asked.
Sermon
Later in a sermon on the theme, "The Baptism of the Holy Spirit," Rt Rev. Dr Ollennu said a leader must have a vision, adding that in their personal lives too, they need to have a vision because if they do not have, then they do not have a destination.
He, therefore, asked the new officers about the vision they had for the Women's Fellowship and the legacy they wanted to leave behind.
He said to lead a victorious Christian life, they needed the Holy Spirit, explaining that, if the fire of the Holy Spirit was burning in them, they would never love sin.
The new officers promised among others to discharge their duties of office through active cooperation with the Methodist Church Ghana, that under their leadership, the people of God might be encouraged and the work of God in the Women's Fellowship would be furthered.
They also promised that they were determined to carry out their responsibilities faithfully and also trust God who has called them into service to grant them wisdom and humility to undertake the wider responsibility of the Women's Fellowship.
Dignitaries present to assist the bishop in the induction ceremony included the Lay Chairman of the Accra Diocese of the church, Joseph Eduam; the Synod Secretary of the Diocese, Very Rev. Doris Saah, the Diocesan Chaplain of the Women's Fellowship, Very Rev. Trudy Wright and the Superintendent Minister of the Accra New Town Circuit, Very Rev. Abraham Tetteh.
