Multiple illnesses caused death of Bigboss student — Pathologist

The death of a form three Business student of the Bolgatanga Senior High School (Bigboss) in the Upper East Region, which sparked off rioting, leading to the closure of the school, was caused by multiple illnesses.

The Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Thomas Agbanyo, who made this known to the Daily Graphic at Bolgatanga on Thursday, indicated that a postmortem had revealed that the student, Emmanuel Bawa, died  from multiple illnesses.

The postmortem was conducted by Dr Osei Sampene of the Pathological Department of the  Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

ASP Agbanyo stated that the body had been subsequently released to the family of the deceased for burial

Burial is  expected to take place at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region tomorrow, Saturday, December 13, 2014.

Arrests

Touching on the arrests made so far by the police, the PRO said the five suspects linked to the rioting in the school had been granted bail.

They were also provisionally charged for rioting with implements and causing unlawful damage to property.
