According to the CPP’s National Youth Organiser, Mr Ernesto Yeboah, Ghana should not be used as a dumping ground.

“If America doesn’t want them why should it be extended to Ghana. Why should we accept something that America doesn’t want. And it appears that for this government that is exactly what they do, we tend to accept almost everything, we have become a dumping ground for almost everything, cheap goods, poisonous feeds, toxic goods and now toxic prisoners,” he told Accra based radio station, Citi FM.

On the part of the People’s National Convention (PNC) they described it as a misplaced priority.

General Secretary of the Party, Mr Atik Mohammed said the PNC sees the decision as strange.

He said there are a lot of internally displaced people within Ghana, “how well has the government dealt with these people. And so if we are unable to deal with people who are

even internally displaced, we now want to turn our assistance to people we don’t have the muscle to be able to help,” he said.
