Sack Avram Grant now — Nyaho Tamakloe

Outspoken former chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has called for the sack of Black Stars coach, Avram Grant, for his penchant for staying outside the country.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said the coach’s conduct was at variance with the terms of the contract he signed with the GFA.

PFAG launches pension fund

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) last Monday launched the ‘Life After Football Trust Fund’ which will pay-out over GHC1million to each beneficiary when they reach the age of 60.

The fund, which also has a section that will provide insurance cover to all 480 players in the Ghana Premier League, will pay GHC10, 000 to each player or their beneficiaries in the event of accidental death or critical illness during their playing careers.

Barely a year after Avram Grant’s appointment as technical head of the Black Stars, the Ghana Football Association(GFA) is yet to find him a permanent accomodation. 

But George Afriyie, vice-president of the Ghana Football Association, told the Graphic Sports last Wednesday that it was cheaper housing him in a hotel than to rent an accommodation for the coach.

Hearts overpower stubborn Allies

Accra Hearts of Oak yesterday continued their unbeaten run this season with a 3-2 win against Inter Allies in their  Premier League match played at the Tema Stadium.

A brace from substitute Musah Ibrahim and one by Isaac Mensah were all the visitors needed to overcome the tactically disciplined Inter Allies side, which confronted Hearts with a well- thought-out game plan which kept their goalkeeper, Kwame Baah, virtually on holiday for  most part of the game.

Graphic Packaging (G-PAK), a subsidiary of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), last Saturday reclaimed the inter-departmental games trophy after winning nine events at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra. 

G-PAK, 2014 winners, lost the title to the Newspapers Department last year but put up a spirited performance to win back the title after winning the volleyball, 4X100 (women), ludo, musical chairs, tug of peace (women), sack race as well as the egg and spoon events for both men and women.

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker, Kofi Nti Boakye, has joined Nigerian top-flight side, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, on a short-term five-month deal.
