Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has named his squad for the decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic (C.A.R.) and Comoros, blending established European stars with returning talents and a fresh domestic face.
The 25-man list, released by the Ghana Football Association, confirms the much-anticipated return of Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Stade Rennais defender Alidu Seidu, both of whom have recovered from long-term injuries.
Issahaku has been sidelined since November due to an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury, while Seidu returns after a long-standing knee issue that has kept him out of the squad since November last year.
In a notable inclusion, 21-year-old OGC Nice defender Kojo Peprah Oppong has received his first senior call-up following a series of impressive performances in the French Ligue 1.
The youngster, who began his career with Attram De Visser in the Division One League before moving to Europe two seasons ago, is one of the new names in the defensive roster.
From the domestic front, Medeama SC midfielder Prince Owusu has been handed his debut call-up following his brilliant start to the Ghana Premier League.
The squad remains anchored by experienced campaigners such as Tottenham Hotspur’s Mohammed Kudus, Athletic Club’s Iñaki Williams, AFC Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, and the Ayew brothers, Jordan and Andre, from Leicester City and without a club respectively. The midfield will be marshalled by the returning Thomas Partey of Villarreal CF.
The Black Stars are on the cusp of qualifying for their fifth World Cup finals, currently sitting at the summit of Group I with 19 points. The team will play its penultimate qualifier against the Central African Republic at the Stade d'Honneur de Meknes in Morocco on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, with a 4:00 PM GMT kick-off.
The final group match will see Ghana host Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 12th October 2025, at 7:00 PM GMT. A positive result from these two fixtures will secure Ghana's passage to the 2026 World Cup, to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
