UG Corporate Football League team to represent Ghana at World Corporate Championship in Morocco

Ghana is set to make a debut appearance at the prestigious World Corporate Championship in Morocco this October, with a team from the University of Ghana Corporate Football League selected to represent the country.

The announcement was made by Mr. Yaw Sakyi Afari, Head of RITE Sports Services, during a press conference held on Thursday ahead of the UG Corporate Football League Grand Finale scheduled for Friday, July 25, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

“This is a historic moment not just for the UG Corporate Football League but for the entire landscape of corporate football in Ghana,” Mr. Sakyi declared. “The selection of a team from our league to compete internationally is a major milestone, and it reflects the professionalism, competitiveness, and talent we have nurtured over the past 19 weeks.”

The World Corporate Championship, set to take place in Morocco, brings together elite corporate teams from across the globe in a tournament designed to promote team building, fitness, and international camaraderie through sport.

Providing further context, Mr. Yakub Alfa Suleiman, Director of Operations at Corporate Sports Ghana, expressed confidence in Ghana’s representatives. “We believe that the team from the University of Ghana Corporate Football League will be strong ambassadors for the country. They’ve shown the skill, discipline, and resilience needed to compete at the highest level,” he said.

The announcement comes just a day before the highly anticipated final match of the 2025 UG Corporate Football League, which concludes a 20-week season of intense competition. The finale will feature third-place and championship matches between the top four teams—Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Union Ghana, Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club, and the National Petroleum Authority.

Organised by the University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate in collaboration with RITE Sports Services, the league has gained recognition for its promotion of wellness, corporate teamwork, and the integration of sports into workplace culture.

The tournament has enjoyed support from key sponsors including Glico General Insurance, Viggo Energy, Socaloca, and the Ghana Football Association.

With the global spotlight now shining on Ghana’s corporate football scene, excitement is building among players and supporters alike.
