Stop politicising everything

Ghanaians by nature are passionate about soccer, religion and politics. But the passion for politics is gradually turning into hostility towards those who do not share the same political values.

For this reason, every little occurrence is attributed to one political party or the other.   Political activists and followers are so emotionally attached to their parties they get easily upset over such issues raising tension.

When people make comments to deliberately annoy their political opponents, it may be difficult to predict the outcome.

If Ghana will be a good place for us all, then all stakeholders must adopt a unifying attitude in all that they do.

As Ghanaians, our topmost priority should be about peace building; a peaceful country, peace of mind, and harmony without which nothing meaningful can be achieved.

The media must also stop whipping up tension by politicising everything. When interviewees try to mislead their listeners, they should be corrected or stopped completely.

Unfortunately, most presenters allow politicians to make all manner of allegations on air creating unnecessary fear and panic among the populace.

Whatever false information they put out there fuels the already tense situation that can flare up in our faces. Perhaps, it is time for the media to focus on social issues that will contribute to changing all the negative habits in the society that is undermining the development of the nation.
