The Parliament of Ghana has passed the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025 commonly referred to as anti-LGBTQ+ bill in spite of strong opposition by the Minority Caucus, who threatened to withdraw the bill prior to passage on Friday (May 29, 2026).
The object of the Private Members’ bill is to provide for human sexual rights and family values and related matters.

GRA to increase tax revenue target to GH¢310 billion by 2028 — Commissioner
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is targeting to increase its tax revenue target to GH¢310 billion by 2028, the Commissioner-General Anthony Kwasi Sarpong has said.
“In 2025, we achieved GH¢182 billion in revenue. In 2026, we are targeting GH¢225 billion. Under your leadership, we expect that by 2028, we will increase that to over GH¢310 billion,” the Commissioner-General said.

The Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu has said that using denial of bail as a form of punishment for accused persons was not the law.
"We must uphold the principle of fair trial for every accused person as a country," he said while speaking at a funeral of Mahama Shaibu, a lecturer at the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale on Thursday (May 28, 2026).
Mahama Shaibu, a former broadcast journalist with the Multimedia Group Limited (MGL), who reported from the Northern Region for Accra based Joy FM for many years, and later went to lecture at UDS after further studies abroad was a member of the board of the National Communications Authority (NCA) and a personal friend of Mr Haruna Iddrisu.
