Patrons who made it last Friday to the National Theatre to watch Latif Abubakar's latest play, What Can Come Can Come had a good laugh as scene after scene unfolded.

Supported by Globe Productions in partnership with the National Theatre, Graphic Showbiz and Citi FM, the hilarious play is about Frank, an unemployed graduate who lives with a big problem of not knowing who his father is.

Anytime he asks of his father, his mother just talks about him being dead  but not exactly dead leaving poor Frank in a dilemma.

Meanwhile, Frank is in love with beautiful Efua whose father will hear none of that because he prefers his daughter to marry a rich man. With Efua's mother on her daughter's side and her father, Mr Arthur against the relationship, a lot of conflict arise.

That is just the tip of the iceberg because one Mr Kankam Jnr appears on the scene and showers Mr Arthur with money making him hate Frank the more and tries to convince his daughter to date Kankam.

So much drama unfold as Frank's uncle, Sam promises to go talk to Mr Arthur on behalf of Frank. Does he succeed? The other big question is what is the relationship between Efua's mother and Uncle Sam?

Efua's friend, Adobea convinces her to date rich men just as she has been doing. There are twists and turns in this play keeping the audience glued to their seats from start to finish.

What about Frank? Does he eventually meet his ''dead'' father?

Though the play drags in the beginning, the play, directed by Joojo Quansah picks up along the line and keeps an appreciable pace till the end.

Uncle Sam, played by Clement Ashitey probably passed for the audience's favourite character with his usual, ''You ain't seen nothing yet'' trademark phrase. He carries his role as a drunkard very convincingly and keeps everyone laughing their hearts out with his act.

Acting is generally good considering that most of the actors are not known faces with the exception of Mr Arthur which was ably played by Ecow Smith-Asante.

Other members of the cast were Benjamin Solomon, Pearl Korkor Dartey, Lawrencia Ayapoka Anafo, Ghana's Most Beautiful 2013, Prince Amoabeng, Efia Kyeremaa Owusu, Elsie Atiase and Amedor Noah.

The set was quite a simple one and whoever was in charge of props should have provided a table for Frank as he took his breakfast in the first scene instead of leaving it on the floor.

Sound was not on point  as some of the microphones were not working. Costume and make-up were appropriate.

What Can Come Can Come was sponsored by Carnival Strawberry and supported by Lenon, Eco Spa and Blue Skies.
