Author Dr. David Rex Orgen inspires students in Winneba with ADHD Awareness Seminar
Author and ADHD expert Dr. David Rex Orgen has left a lasting impact on students and staff at Winneba Secondary School after delivering an inspiring seminar aimed at empowering young minds to embrace their uniqueness.
The event, organized by InspireMind Global, was held in the school’s auditorium and commenced with a vibrant cultural display, including traditional drumming and a symbolic bridging of Ghanaian and American flags, emphasizing international unity.
Dr. Orgen, a best-selling author known for his advocacy and writings on ADHD, shared his personal journey of overcoming challenges associated with the condition. He encouraged students to view ADHD not as a limitation but as a unique strength. His message resonated strongly, as many students identified with his experiences.
Empowering students and teachers
Following Dr. Orgen's speech, an interactive Q&A session allowed students to share their personal stories and receive practical tips on time management, mindfulness, and self-acceptance. Teachers also participated in training sessions focused on creating inclusive classrooms to better support students with ADHD.
Afia, a student who attended the seminar, expressed her gratitude: “I always thought something was wrong with me because I couldn’t sit still or focus. Today, I’ve learned that ADHD isn’t a limitation—it’s a different way of thinking, and it can be a strength.”
The seminar was attended by the school’s headmaster and 60 staff members, all of whom lauded the event for its transformative impact.
A gesture of support
As a show of appreciation, InspireMind Global announced the establishment of the Dr. David Rex Orgen Scholarships Fund, which will provide annual financial support to four deserving students who excel academically but face financial challenges.
Dr. Orgen concluded the event with an uplifting message: “You are the future leaders of Ghana and the world. Embrace who you are, seek support when needed, and never stop striving for greatness.”
