An international friendly, it gave the Ghanaian side an opportunity to avenge a defeat they suffered at the hands of the Ugandans last season.

Having already gained a half goal for their handicap, the Ghanaian team, comprising Jun Pablo, Jamil Ibrahim, George Agyemang and Jamilu Mohammed, piled up pressure on their opponents and it paid off when Jamilu Mohammed opened the scores to make the tally one and a half, while Pablo made it two and a half with a masterful play into the opponent’s goal.

A brilliant combination between Pablo and Darko fetched the team  the third goal before the Ugandans pulled one back through a penalty, which Uday Kalaan cleverly converted for the visitors.

Ghana made it four and half in the third chukker after a low shot from Jamil Ibrahim. The Ugandans got another penalty and Uday Kalaan made it two for the visitors.

Darko Agyemang however, increased the tally to five and a half before Juan Pablo made it six and a half for the homesters.

The Ghanaian scored his third goal to make the score seven and a half before Uday Kalaan converted another penalty for the visitors to end proceedings at the polo grounds.

The best pony went to Midnight while Uday Kalaan scooped the most valuable player award.

Kwakye-Dopoah Dei, captain of the Accra Polo Club,  noted that the sport was becoming a national past time and said plans were afoot to spread  the game to other regions and parts of Accra.
