Iddrisu Adams of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) set a new national record for the 10.5km mini marathon by winning the Upper West Regional edition of the Millennium Marathon by clocking 29.30 seconds, 30 seconds ahead of the previous record.

It was also his personal best, breaking his previous record of 31 minutes which he set last year.

Fatigue, poor defending cost us — Medeama coach

Medeama coach Tom Strand rued his side’s defensive display in the final stage of their African Confederation Cup clash against Mamelodi Sundowns last Saturday that left the Ghanaian side with a mountain to climb in the second leg.

Medeama led 1-0 until the 81st minute, but three goals in six minutes from Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat and Cuthbert Malajila turned the tie on its head.

Any technical observer at the stadium would certainly conclude that a lot of efforts went into the pre-match arrangements. 

The GFA/PLB  itself held at least two stakeholders meetings to ensure that matters dealing with security, medical, match attendance, publicity and general arrangements were thoroughly discussed and taken care of. This is in strict conformity with the Government White Paper on the famous Okudzeto Report which recommended that anytime the two teams were to play against each other, the organisers should follow certain guidelines and protocols, including the holding of stakeholders meetings.
