Racing fans can’t miss tomorrow’s thrills : At the Whitsun Race Meeting

Under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, the Accra Turf Club begins its Whitsun Race Meeting tomorrow with four races open to horses in divisions 4C, 4A, 3B and novices.

The first race of the day, which begins at 1.30 pm, will feature five horses in Division 4C competing over a distance of six furlongs.

Kotoko sign sponsorship deal with Forms Capital Ltd

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have secured a one- year sponsorship deal with Forms Capital Ltd in which outstanding players will be paid every month.

Awudu Issaka slams Kotoko

A Former Ghanaian international, Awudu Issaka, has slammed the management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko for what he described as an unjustifiable treatment being meted out to Coach David Duncan.

Issaka, who was influential in Ghana’s gold-winning feat at the 1995 FIFA Under-17 World Cup, said asking a coach to step aside in this current era was unprofessional and, therefore, charged the management of the Porcupine Warriors to reconsider that decision.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko stirred yet another controversy this week after coming out to vehemently protest against a decision by the FA Cup Committee (FACC) to have their MTN FA Cup round of 32 match played in Tumu as originally balloted.  

As we have observed, the latest call by the Kotoko management followed hard on the heels of a similar decision by the club asking Coach David Duncan to step aside for a while due to the club’s spate of poor results in the ongoing Premier League.

Just like the Duncan saga, Kotoko’s request for a change of venue for their match against Tumu-based Division Two side Real 24 Hours FC stirred a heated debate in the media, resulting in divided opinion on the matter.

UPAC B’ball: Takoradi Poly stun Marshalls

Takoradi Polytechnic on Tuesday recorded a stunning 59-57 win over highly rated Group B opponents, Marshalls University College, in the opening game of the Rexona Universities, Polytechnics and College (UPAC) Basketball Championship at the Accra Polytechnic basketball court.

The Takoradi Polytechnic basketball team led in all the first three quarters of the game (14-12, 25-24 and 42-36) but suffered a fright in the closing stages as Marshalls staged a late comeback.

Ping Pong: National League enters second week

The national table tennis league spinned off last Saturday with some thrilling encounters which saw the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Immigration service, Prisons Service, Ghana Army and Police Service getting off to good starts in the men’s division.

Defending men’s champions, Immigration started on a good note as they beat Synergy Club 3-0 with GRA defeating Madina Club 3-0, while Fire Service defeated Tesano Spinners 3-2.
