WWE terminates wrestler Hulk Hogan's contract

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has terminated its contract with Hulk Hogan, amid widespread allegations he was recorded using racist slurs.

Hogan debuted in 1977 and is one of the best-known names in the industry.

A statement from the WWE gave no reason for the dismissal and there has been no comment yet from the wrestling star.

RadarOnline.com and The National Enquirer earlier reported on a sex tape in which Hogan allegedly used racist insults.

"WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan)," the company said in a statement.

"WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide."

While there has been no comment yet from Hogan's representatives, he left a cryptic tweet early on Friday.
